HOW-WHY DOES IT WORK?

When we are born we have millions of fat cells in our body. These cells increase in number until we are adults. After the growth period is over, they do not increase in number anymore, but when we gain weight they increase in size. Consequently, we get heavy and/or we get fat deposits in particular areas of our bodies. For male patients they are more frequent in the abdomen and "love handles", females usually get them in the thighs, hips and abdomen. We can get them in any part of our body.
Liposuction eliminates adipose cells from the body, and, since they stop multiplying, they are gone forever. There are some cells left behind, of course, but for these cells to be able to occupy the same volume they had before the liposuction, the person would actually have to gain 30-40 lbs or more in the next couple of months or years.
Liposuction is not a permission to over eat. We ask that you keep your weight as stable as possible.

CANDIDATES

Any person wanting to get rid of body fat in a permanent way.
When liposuction started in the early 80s it was aimed at people with the "ideal weight" that had fat deposits in a particular area of their body. After 13 years of performing liposuction we have found out that any person, regardless of their weight, can have liposuction performed. We sculpt the bodies of those persons who need it and we also reduce a considerable amount of inches of the waist, thighs, neck, and arms or wherever it is needed.
How much weight will you lose with liposuction? It depends on how much we take out. Adipose tissue is very light and it occupies a lot of volume but it does not weigh too much. But of course, if we remove 5000-10000cc of fat or more you are going to weigh less.
We have done the procedures on diabetics and on patients with hypertension without any problems. In fact, by getting rid of this extra fat, these patients will have great benefits to their overall health.

TREATABLE AREAS

Abdomen, thighs (inner, outer), hips, back, breasts (male, female), neck, face, ankles, inner parts of knees, love handles, etc.

HOW WE DO IT?

Always with local anesthesia (only the area we work on is numbed). Tumescent technique. Once the area is numbed, we utilize small (2-3 millimeters diameter) blunt cannulas to extract the fat; consequently you will have 2 incisions of 2-3 millimeters per area. These incisions are so small that they do not need suturing. Since the cannulas are blunt there are no cuts and, in this way, we avoid any bleeding or damage to superficial nerves. Once the fat is suctioned out, we perform superficial suctioning and, in this way, the skin is retracted, so that there will be no hanging or loose skin after the procedure.
How long does the procedure last? It depends on the areas that need treatment as well as on the amount that needs to be suctioned. Average procedure lasts about two hours (ranges between 1 hour and half and five hours).

WHERE IS IT PERFORMED?

The procedure takes place in our own private clinic. The clinic is equipped with the latest equipment to provide each patient with the best possible care and total safety, which is of utmost importance to us, as well as excellent results. It is an outpatient procedure, no hospitalization is required.

POST-OPERATIVE CARE

You must wear a binder for 4-5 weeks. You should expect some color fading over the areas treated, which will disappear in 5-7 days. This actually varies from patient to patient. As you know, some persons get easily bruised while others do not. The important point is that it goes away in a couple of days. Most patients say that they feel as if they have done too much exercise and have an aching sensation over the treated areas. After the procedure you are encouraged to do your daily activities. This is not a disabling procedure in any way. You must start massaging the area treated the day after the procedure. This can be done by the patient or by somebody else.
Recovery time is very little, if any. You are able to do your daily activities within 24 hours after the procedure.

COMPLICATIONS

The procedure is very safe. We have been doing it for 13 years. Like in all surgeries there is a chance of infection, but since all patients are given antibiotics before the surgery this is very unlikely. There is no risk of bleeding or nerve damage since the cannulas are blunt and they do not cut. Also, the adipose tissue is very superficial to any vital organ or structure.

RESULTS

They are for life. If it is done to sculpt a body or to reduce inches in your body the results are excellent and are forever. As a patient said, and I quote "you are giving tailors a lot of work”
